For the next several days, my web pressence will be decidedly diminished. Tomorrow I undergo the knife to determine, eventually, if the nodule on my thyroid is cancerous or not.

I'd love to say I'm confident all will be fine, but the truth is I'm not. Being out of touch with reality and the sensory input of my senses is not something I enjoy.

I do, however, have some good news to impart. I've just finished my latest work, WATCHTOWERS: WATER. Once I go through it a final time seeking obvious flaws, I'll be sending it in to my vacationing editor. The first book of the series by Sydney Somer has been released and is entitiled WATCHTOWERS: AIR. I've had a chance to read it and its an awesome introduction into the struggle of four women against an evil sorcerer.

I'm onto my second continuity novel, THE GARRISON: CATWALK. This is the story of Jonathan Thrower and Lucia Isles. She's by the book, and he has a little drug problem. Sparks are sure to fly when these two are in the same room.

Last night was my "appearance" on Jewels Way Internet radio show. It's amazing how fast an hour really goes!

I am thrilled so many of you sent email questions for the broadcast. Thank you for your support. Jewel wasn't able to read all the questions!

There was one question sent in, she felt inappropriate for the air, as she felt it was a bit too personal. A listener who knows me well asked if I still carried a steak knife in my purse on first dates.

First off, there haven't been any first dates in quite some time. :)

Secondly, there was a time when I had a steak knife in my purse for TWO first dates.

The first ocassion was nearly twenty-five years ago. I received a phone call from a photographic studio to purchase a portrait package. The photographer was in the town I was working in, became enamored of my voice, and asked me out. Unthinkingly, I said yes. Later, rethinking the decision, I put a knife in my purse, the sharpest one I had in my apartment. You guessed it, a steak knife. He ended up being a nice guy, and I dated him for almost a year. :)

Thing is, I didn't carry that purse around much. So, I forgot the knife was in there, and it went on another first date. This one turned out even better. I ended up marrying him.
